About

Jason Wieck Racing

Jason Wieck Racing is a drag racing team based out of Long Beach, California. Jason has been an avid drag racing follower since the age of five. Owning a race team and driving a dragster had been a long time dream of his, going back to when his dad took him to his first drag race. When he saw the first pair of cars go down the track, he knew that’s what he wanted to do with his life. Not surprising since his uncle, Jerry Estep, had a top gas dragster which competed in the 60s and 70s.  In 1970 his uncle’s car won Top Gas with Jack Jones driving, who also happens to be the model for the coveted NHRA Wally trophy.

Jason, a California native, and his wife, Andrea, were married and welcomed their first daughter, Jordyn, in 2003. In 2006 they welcomed their second daughter, Jasmyn, and in 2015 they welcomed their son, Jaxon. They currently reside in Long Beach, California where they run Jason Wieck Racing LLC. Andrea, Jordyn, Jasmyn, and Jaxon are extremely involved and supportive of Jason, and are his biggest fans.

On October 16, 2009 Jason took a big step and earned his NHRA Championship Drag Racing Competition Drag Racing License at “The Strip” at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  He accomplished this at Frank Hawley’s NHRA Drag Racing School, which is the premier drag racing school in the country. Jason’s family and friends traveled to Las Vegas to experience the joy and accomplishment of him earning his drag racing license.
On his journey to getting his license, Jason spent eight years working as a crew member for Rocketman Racing.  Being a team member of a professional race team, he was exposed to the business side of drag racing.  It also taught him an even greater level of dedication, discipline, and focus.  Jason has been able to get really creative with marketing and social media which has been able to give Jason Wieck Racing LLC a large social media following.

In 2011, Jason drove for Jim “Bear” Chapman while competing in the Arizona Drag Racing Association (ADRA).  He entered a number of races and in one of the races, made it to the finals and won runner up in a field of 31 cars, earning a spot in National Dragster (a drag racing magazine by NHRA).  In the 2011 season, he acquired sponsorships from Allstate Transmission & Auto Repair in Phoenix, as well as Southwest Diesel & Electrical and 1st Impressions Truck Lettering, both also located in Phoenix.

For the 2012 season, Jason Wieck Racing joined with Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, a nationwide company famous for their steakburgers and frozen custards, for their title sponsorship.  They competed in five local bracket races which included a runner up, two semifinal appearances, one quarter final appearance, and unfortunately one first round exit.  In 2013 Jason Wieck Racing started working in conjunction with Doug Herbert’s B.R.A.K.E.S. a 501(c) (3) nonprofit charity.   Jason Wieck Racing also partnered with Ditch the Can, a company with a unique twist on energy drinks.

During this time, Jason also started receiving requests for interviews such as the feature article on dragracecetral.com (http://dragracecentral.com/DRCStory.asp?ID=244008#indextop) and OurWeekly Los Angeles at http://ourweekly.com/news/2014/feb/26/black-racers-and-fans-are-finding-their-place-drag/.

Jason took some time away from racing to help raise his young family and in 2023 Jason Wieck Racing teamed up with Thomas Bayer Racing and competed in the NHRA Super Comp division and will be racing with Thomas Bayer racing in the same division in 2024.
