Jason Wieck Racing Continues Bakersfield Double Divisional Campaign

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — September 25, 2026 — Jason Wieck Racing is in the middle of a busy week at Famoso Dragstrip, competing in the NHRA Division 7 Bakersfield Double Divisional alongside car owner and crew chief Thomas Bayer of Thomas Bayer’s Drag Racing School.

Wieck brings years of experience behind the wheel into Bakersfield, including extensive competition in NHRA Super Comp and previous licensing in Advanced ET and Top Alcohol Dragster. That experience is paired with Bayer’s knowledge as a longtime racer, instructor, car owner and crew chief, creating a combination built around preparation, consistency and execution.

Throughout the Bakersfield event, Wieck and Bayer have been working closely to stay ahead of changing track and atmospheric conditions. In a category as competitive as Super Comp, where races can be decided by thousandths of a second, communication between driver and crew chief is critical.

“Thomas and I work really well together,” Wieck said. “At this level, you’re constantly evaluating what the track is doing, what the weather is doing and what the car is telling you. Thomas gives me a great race car and makes the calls, and my job is to execute when I get behind the wheel.”

The partnership with Thomas Bayer’s Drag Racing School brings together two racers who understand that success in Super Comp comes from much more than simply running the 8.90 index. Reaction time, consistency, finish-line strategy and making the right decisions under pressure all become part of the equation.

Bayer’s role goes well beyond ownership of the dragster. As crew chief, he oversees the race-day combination and works with Wieck on the adjustments necessary to put the car in position to win rounds.

For Wieck, that allows the focus inside the cockpit to remain exactly where it belongs — executing the plan.

The Bakersfield Double Divisional is an important stop on the 2026 Jason Wieck Racing schedule and another opportunity to compete against some of the strongest Sportsman racers in NHRA’s Division 7.

With two divisional races packed into the week at Famoso, the challenge is not simply making one good run. It is maintaining a competitive combination through changing conditions and being ready when eliminations begin.

For Jason Wieck Racing and Thomas Bayer’s Drag Racing School, that means approaching every round with the same objective:

Prepare the car. Make the call. Execute the run. Turn on the win light.
