Jason Wieck Racing Rebounds with Fourth-Round Run at Bakersfield Double Divisional
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — September 27, 2026 — Jason Wieck Racing closed out the NHRA Division 7 Bakersfield Double Divisional at Famoso Dragstrip with a fourth-round finish in the second Super Comp race, rebounding from an opening-round loss in the first race.
The September 23–27 doubleheader gave Wieck and the team two opportunities to compete on the same track. The first race ended in Round 1, leaving the team to regroup before returning for the second event.
Working with car owner and crew chief Thomas Bayer of Thomas Bayer’s Drag Racing School, Wieck came back in Race 2 and turned three rounds into win lights. The run ended in Round 4, marking a strong response to the earlier exit.

“We would have liked to have gone further, but I’m proud of the way we came back in the second race,” Wieck said. “Thomas and I kept working at it, the car responded, and we were able to put some win lights together. Every round gives us more information, and we’ll take what we learned here and keep building.”
Bayer’s work with the car throughout the weekend helped the team make adjustments and build on each pass. For Wieck, the fourth-round result reflected the value of staying focused after a difficult start to the doubleheader.
Jason Wieck Racing now looks ahead to the Las Vegas Divisional in November, followed by the NHRA World Finals in Pomona. The team will carry the lessons from Bakersfield into those final events of the season.
